Bethany has mastered the art of rolling from her back onto one side! She enjoys it so much that she is able to rotate herself a full 360 degrees on the floor simply by rolling over and rolling back repeatedly! She is able to roll to both sides. We are also noticing that her head control appears to be improving a little as well, Praise the Lord! |

Beth Approved for a special needs stroller, yay!
LATEST UPDATE: Stroller is due to arrive for Beth on 3rd April! We are looking forward to it!
Great news folks, an application for funding with the PADP government body, in conjunction with KidsFund has been approved and Beth will be getting a new stroller with much better support and flexibility - it should do Beth through until 5 years old. It should arrive sometime in March if all goes well. Thank the Lord for this as it's over $5000 for the stroller.

Well we really got a good Christmas present this year - Beth stopped having seizures for two whole months! We are unsure exactly why, but we can definately say that the Lord was at work, and we know that many of you are praying for Beth and us, and we want to thank you all. We don't know why and there were a number of changes happening around the same time. |

Beth is having constipation issues. For the first time we have heard her cry in pain, quite high pitched. When we took her to the doctor he thought it was constipation but he referred us to the hospital and when we got there, they didn't like the sound of her cry so they put her straight through, thank the Lord. They did an x-ray and saw that there was some obstruction and a lot of wind in the bowel, and so administered an enema and gave us some to do if she needed more. After that she was pretty much fine. Shortest hospital stay so far we have had - didn't even need to admit us, thank the Lord. |

Beth has started to get Tonic seizures, or "stuckey" ones we call them. She has been stable on Vigabatrin for a little while, with only small seizure activity which has been managable for her. These new seizures show a bit of a change in pattern, and our Neuro advises that this may require a new drug to treat - Epilim - as Vigabatrin is more specifically for infantile spasms, not tonic seizures. He has given us the scripts necessary and if seizures get to a more significant level we will try the new drug. |

Beth has been going well folks, but is still having seizures. Medications have been changed, weaning off phenobarb and prednisone, and now only on vigabatrin. I have updated the seizures page with information and also added in a couple of other things we have been looking at - fish oil supplement, magnesium supplement and also now some essential oils we are going to try. It has been great to have Beth a lot more active and responsive now on the vigabatrin, which doesn't seem to be too drowsy or mood altering. We even had a small couple of smiles the other day, praise the Lord. However, just of late it appears her seizures could be changing again. Although only having short seizures generally, she is now starting to get "stuck" in the spasms - i.e the spasm isn't just a "clench and unclench" and repeated, it is a "clench and hold" for a period before unclenching then repeated, which is much more distressing to Beth - she cries and is quite distressed. Keep her in prayer for wisdom about what to do - hopefully the essential oils may work, otherwise the neurologist has it in mind to try valproate (Epilim) as another drug to add to her reigeme... however, it too has a variety of side effects. |
